I have been passionate about bookkeeping since I graduated. My career began at a local printing company where I was the sole bookkeeper, which ignited my love for the profession. After starting a family, I worked for a large county school system, managing all administrative duties, including purchasing, budgeting, and other financial tasks for an elementary school.

My husband and I later founded our own commercial food equipment service, where I served as CFO for nearly 20 years, gaining extensive expertise in QuickBooks. I also have comprehensive knowledge of the service industry, having kept books for various businesses such as landscaping companies, roofers, photographers, plumbers, construction firms, and painters.

Personally, I am married with two grown sons and three granddaughters. Raised in Virginia, I moved to North Carolina to support my husband's career. My family is the most important part of my life, and I cherish spending time with them. I have a deep love for animals, especially dogs, and share my home with two miniature schnauzers. Living near the beach, I enjoy swimming, fishing, shell hunting, and boating.

Hi, I’m Laura, a dedicated bookkeeper living in the beautiful city of San Diego. I’ve been happily married to my wonderful husband for six years. I have the most incredible, smart, and loving 5-year-old son. I also have a crazy 1-year-old golden retriever who keeps me on my toes!

I have a passion for numbers and a keen eye for detail, helping businesses maintain their financial health. My bookkeeping journey has sharpened my skills in financial record keeping, account reconciliation, and tax preparation, ensuring accuracy and compliance. I excel in managing multiple accounts and deadlines, using accounting software, such as QuickBooks, and spreadsheets efficiently. My strong analytical skills provide valuable insights for business decisions, and I handle sensitive financial information with integrity and confidentiality.

Outside of work, I am an ASU Online student with a 4.15 GPA and I am on the Dean's List for the 4th year in a row. I’m a huge Disney fan and go to Disneyland almost every weekend! I also enjoy spending time at the beach, going on walks, visiting the dog park with my dog, and playing Mario games with my son. Through every aspect of my life, I strive to bring joy, precision, and dedication, making each day a magical adventure.

I’m Maria Shepherd, the Marketing Director for Coastal Compass Bookkeeping Services. Since 2016, I've been happily married and blessed with two beautiful daughters. Alongside my husband, I co-own and operate a blue-collar service business.

In my role at Coastal Compass, I deliver innovative and effective marketing strategies to ensure we always put our best foot forward, showcasing the excellence and integrity of our company. Balancing my business and marketing responsibilities keeps me on my toes, but I thrive in the dynamic and rewarding environment.
